Surah At Talaq Ayat 2 Translation Tafseer

Para 28 - قَدْ سَمِعَ اللّٰهُ

سورة الطلاق

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

65.2

فَاِذَا بَلَغْنَ اَجَلَهُنَّ فَاَمْسِكُوْهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوْفٍ اَوْ فَارِقُوْهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوْفٍ وَّ اَشْهِدُوْا ذَوَیْ عَدْلٍ مِّنْكُمْ وَ اَقِیْمُوا الشَّهَادَةَ لِلّٰهِؕ-ذٰلِكُمْ یُوْعَظُ بِهٖ مَنْ كَانَ یُؤْمِنُ بِاللّٰهِ وَ الْیَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِ۬ؕ-وَ مَنْ یَّتَّقِ اللّٰهَ یَجْعَلْ لَّهٗ مَخْرَجًاۙ (2)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

So when they near ˹the end of˺ their prescribed duration ˹of the waiting period˺, take them back with courtesy or release them with courtesy, [1] and appoint two just witnesses among you, and establish the testimony for Allah. This is what he who believes in Allah and the Last Day is advised. And whosoever fears Allah, He will create a way out for him.

Commentary

A husband has two choices when one or two revocable divorces have been issued and a woman draws close to the end of her waiting period: if he wishes to stay with her and live amicably, he should revoke the divorce and not have the intention in his heart to divorce her again; if he does not have hope of living with his wife in an amicable manner, he should fulfil her rights—such as giving the bridal right (mahr)—and then separate from her. In this case, he should not create difficulties for her by revoking the divorce at the end of the waiting period and then divorcing her again, causing her waiting period to be prolonged and to feel distressed.
